Baptism
What is baptism?
Depending on how you were raised or which denomination you were raised in, you may have a different view of what baptism is.
Here is what we believe the Bible teaches about Baptism.
-
Baptism is an OUTWARD expression of an INWARD transformation.
-
Baptism produces sanctifying grace rather than saving grace. We are more conformed to the image (sanctified) of Christ as we obey Him in the call to be baptized.
- Which is why BAPTISM IS NOT “NECESSARY” FOR SALVATION but it is a response to salvation.
-
Baptism happens on the last Sunday of every month (with a break during the summer). In August, we celebrate Baptisms on the beach.
-
It is a symbol & a celebration. As a symbol, baptism illustrates a number of significant realities:
– It’s a symbol of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
– Your union and relationship with Jesus in His death and resurrection.
We are no longer living for our personal glory, but the glory of God.
– It’s a celebration of your new life in Jesus.
– Because BAPTISM IS A SYMBOL, IT DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER TO SAVE.
We are so excited you’ve shown interest in baptism!
We believe baptism is a great next step to take as a follower of Christ!
